Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Initially I saw the trek on a Macmillan facebook page and having "liked" the charity for many years (pre facebook as well) as they had provided much needed and appreciated support to a friend's family dealing with this disease I hoped to be able to help them with further support. I sent the link to Steve expecting him to laugh it off as I had some experience with marathon distances having completed the 2011 Moonwalk for the breast cancer charity but this one was ACROSS COUNTRY and included HILLS !!!
I was pleasantly surprised if not a little shocked when he agreed and said it might be just the push he need to help with weight loss & getting fitter. Plus as we both agreed once we'd read all the blurb - if we got turned down on the medical info the registration fee might just go to the charity so no one lost out.
We started training gently pretty much straightaway but in the last few months have stepped it up so that we are now comfortably completing 12 miles on levelish ground and recently did the same distance with some very steep hills included - I now know the real meaning of "jelly legs", lol. Our next long walk is to be 16/17 miles with a final pre-event 20-25 miler about 3 weeks before the main trek.
Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will all go towards helping this fantastic charity continue to help people in the same situation as my friend's family - I know from what she said that their help was invaluable.
