Story
At any one time there are around 17,500 people living with myeloma in the UK. It accounts for 15 per cent of blood cancers, and two per cent of all cancers. Myeloma mainly affects those over the age of 65, however it has been diagnosed in people younger than 20.
Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. They provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments. They receive no Government funding and rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising.
