Story
One of the worst things about all this staying in doors malarkey is that I'm missing my weekly pub quiz. So I've decided to make my own. Tune in to Newcastle Marrow's Facebook page on Wednesday 22nd April at 8pm for a night of trivia fun. We are asking that you donate a minimum of £2, with all proceeds going to Anthony Nolan (feel free to donate more if you want!) For those of you less familiar with Newcastle Marrow, we are a student branch of Anthony Nolan, a charity that works with patients with blood cancer and blood disorders. For more information head to Anthonynolan.org to read about the fantastic lifesaving work that they do!
Our first virtual pub quiz was a huge success, so we're back for round 2! This time it's bigger, and better, and there's prizes up for grabs. So assemble your team, get your thinking caps on, and help us to raise lifesaving funds, all whilst having fun!
Newcastle Marrow is a part of the network of lifesaving students who work with the blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan. There are over 50 Marrow groups, with hundreds of student volunteers (like us!) in universities across the country, who are all working towards one thing - saving the lives of people with blood cancer. Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. At Anthony Nolan, we match incredible people willing to donate their stem cells, to people with blood cancer who are in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant. Marrow now recruit one in four people who go on to donate stem cells, which means hundreds of lives are potentially saved by Marrow's incredible work. It costs £40 to add each potential lifesaver to the stem cell register. Every penny and every pound that Newcastle Marrow raises will help to continue saving the lives of people with blood cancer.
