Story
Monday 21st June
well not much cycle training in the last week - 5 miles! Still I had a fab weekend over in Pembrokeshire and did my first dive in years in Martins Haven and it was superb so feeling very up beat and motivated.
Wed this week am going to take bike in for a wee service and get some spares. Then we are heading down to Brighton on the friday to have some fun on the sat and then sunday is the big day!
a big thank you to those that have sponsored me - really appreciate it as it will definitely give me something to think about up the hills!
monday 14th June
well not long to go and stillnot sure how i am going to manage 60 miles but it will happen I am sure.
Sat I cycled from just past Weston-under-Penyard (and the Leadership Trust) back home and had planned a route that was about 20 miles and then I was distracted by a nice long hill and missed a turn so ended up doing 25 miles!
oh well just a tad stiff today but otherwise feeling good and very pleased with bike - have at last more or less ussed the gears out and so not missing too many on the up hills. I did a nasty trip on a single track lane on the sat which was full of pot holes and very bumpy - was a relief to be going up hill again!
so if you haven't already - please do sponsor me as it will be good incentive to actually finish!
viks x
wed 19th May
at last I have my new road bike - its a Giant and so very very different from my mountain bike. Albie thankfully likes the colour! (blue). I picked up on sat and managed a trial 5 miles in the afternoon and didn't fall off - it is much more sensitive to bumps and rider incompetancy than my very forgiving mountain bike!
On sunday I thought I would up stakes and cycle to Tintern. Decided that I wasn't really up to managing Star Hill as its a bit of a biggy and not really mastered changing gear easily yet so cycled tha back way to monmouth and then down the Wye Valley to Tintern.
and the learning from that was- make sure you eat something sensible before setting off ( I didn't and found after 8 miles of hills I was being a bit feeble and at end was very wobbly) and secondly some roads are absoultely abysmal for cyclists!
So new bike has done about 25 miles and I have had no bad after effects from the long ride on sun so all is good!
now need to work out when my next big training ride is!
update....
today Sat 8th May we went to look at bikes in Cardiff - think I have found the bike I want - just need to buy it! Will try to do this this week but my car has "gone all wobbly" so a trip to cardiff is out of the question until its fixed! argh!
training has not been great - just so tired from iggy waking up so frequently - he was quite poorly with a urine infection and his eczema had become so bad we think it has been waking him up. we now have some fabulous cream which has started to clear his skin in just 2 days and he is much happier though a happy baby anyway bless him. so here is hoping for some sleep and some time!
this is work in progress- like my training!
still waiting for my new bike..........
actually not been for a cycle for a little while now but have taken up running and so at least i am working on getting fitter! a friend is kidling lending me one of these things with which you can cycle on your own bike while watching telly (if oyu have one!) so that should be better in terms of getting some more miles in when I ican get out of the house due to children!
hopeing we can get albie on a bike this summer which will be fun.........
more to follow with piccies soon............
