Story
A huge thank you to all of those supporting me so far for the 10km BUPA Great Manchester Run, which I will be participating in on Sunday 17th May 2009.
I have raised over my initial target of £250, so let's see if we can make it to over £400!
I would be extremely grateful if you could support me and sponsor what you can! Remember, a little can go a long way!
"ADPKD affects between 1 in 800 and 1 in 1000 people, irrespective of gender, race or ethnic group.
If a parent has ADPKD, there is a 50% chance that each child born will inherit the disease.
The disease is characterised by numerous fluid-filled cysts in the kidneys and often the liver and pancreas.
Over time, the cysts grow and multiply, replacing normal healthy tissue and causing the kidneys to lose their function. Kidneys can enlarge to 3 to 4 times their normal size."
The reason for choosing The PKD Charity to raise money for is because I myself am a sufferer of the disease and hope that by raising money for this charity more people can be made aware of this common yet unheard of disease.
As may or may not know, I am not, and never have been a runner. Therefore this is going to be difficult challenge for me!
