Vikki's Story

This is a charity very close to my heart. I gave birth to my son James on 28th January 2003. Shortly after his birth he contracted Meninigitis. Unfortunately it wasn't detected early enough and despite all the efforts of the hospital staff, they could not save him as the Meningitis was too far advanced for any treatments to work. James died at 3 days old.

Meningitis UK's vision is a vaccine to eradicate all forms of Meningitis. Every week, six families have to face the sudden tradegy of losing a loved one to this devasting disease. Because it can kill in under four hours and the symptoms are notoriously difficult to spot, Meningitis UK believe a preventative vaccine is the only way to spare people this heartache.
