Fundraising for The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust
Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This will be my first ever marathon and I'm very pleased to be raising money for such a commendable charity whose aim is to assist in the preventaion and relief of sickness, suffering and distress of those affected by leukaemia.
Following the tragic loss of Tracy, family and friends launched an appeal to establish the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia trust. Over the years they have successfully helped in providing essential care and medical equipment in the Worchester Royal Hospital. Here are just a few of their many achievements:
Leukaemia is a type of cancer of the blood or bone marrow and although it is treatable, there is only a 45% survival rate. With increased research and available treatment, people diagnosed with leukaemia today are four times more likely to survive than those diagnosed in the 1970s. This disease has not only affected my family with the loss of my brother but many others worldwide, with 350,000 cases diagnosed a year. So when I hit the wall during those 26miles, I’ll be thinking of all the support I’ve had in raising money for such a worthy cause.
