There are 8 of us in the BROADSTONE team, aiming to complete the non-stop 104km (62.5miles) walk from Richmond to Brighton in 24 hours on 9th/10th June.  (My birthday is on 9th June.  Rather than indulging in the usual debauchery I will be walking for charity.  Those of you that know me well know that that certainly deserves your support!)

Our practice walks (with a few extra supporters) have included a 40-mile night trek to Windsor and a 20-mile hike in the Surrey Hills in the most atrocious weather (see gallery).

We have suffered pain, exhaustion and near-despair, and will no doubt endure more on the day. But our experience is nothing compared to the lifelong challenges faced by the brave men and women that Blind Veterans UK gives support to.
