Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! A few quick answers to some obvious questions....
Why should you sponsor me for this half marathon?
As someone recently pointed out to me I am "only little" and it will take me twice as long to complete as a "fully formed" adult... I think this means that I am in fact running a full marathon but only asking for sponsorship for half of it??
Why am I running at all?
I hit 32 and got scared at my lack of physical prowess... in my wisdom I thought having this as a goal would be a good motivator!
I also wanted to do something for charity and having done my research I found 'YoungMinds'.. a charity that support young people affected by mental health problems. Please read on to find out a bit more about how your hard earned cash could help them!
Who are YoungMinds?
1 in 10 children and young people are affected by mental health problems, up to three in every classroom. The effects can devastate the lives of the children, their families and the wider community. YoungMinds, the national children's mental health charity, is leading the way in helping children with mental health problems by;
* Production & distribution of educational and informative publications for children, young people, parents and professionals, covering key issues such as depression, self-harm, bullying and cannabis use.
* Free telephone helpline for parents and carers concerned about the behaviour or mental health of a child, along with a 'call-back' service by specialist adviser. With issues ranging from self-harm and exam pressure, through to psychosis and sucide, YoungMinds supports children by supporting their families too.
* Consultancy and Training Service providing bespoke strategic and staff development services across UK to providers and commissioners of child and adolescent mental health services (from teachers and youth workers to GPs and police officers)
* and much much more... please visit www.youngminds.org.uk to read on.
