Welcome and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page as you can see I've done something a little crazy and signed up for the EDF Birmingham Half Marathon on 24th October 2010 to try and raise as much money as I can for the RNLI.  You might wonder why Beth and I decided to run for the RNLI..simply because they're worth it.

Since we were kids our parents have always encouraged us to visit the RNLI whenever we're by the coast.  We used to be transfixed by the storm rescue model machine in Exmouth! And having heard the story of the Lynmouth Lifeboat that went up over Porlock Hill back in 1899 it brought home how determined to save lives the RNLI were back then and still are today....you only have to follow them on Twitter to see how busy they are. 

We expect the RNLI to be there for us whenever us townies visit the coast, we don't know the areas, the seas and just hope they'll be there to help if we mess up and to be fair they are.  And what surprises me even more is that the men/women who man the lifeboats are volunteers...so in my mind they definitely deserve my support and hopefully yours.
