Story
I am running the London Marathon in April to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young in memory of my great friend David Hill. He sadly passed away in March during a rugby match between the Scottish and Irish parliamentary teams and I know I am not alone in saying that I miss him a lot.
David used to make fun of me for my love of running but occasionally let himself be bullied into coming with me (as long as it ended with an ice-cream or a gin) so it feels fitting to run a marathon in his memory.
David was only 30 but every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions and I hope raising money for CRY will help save other young lives.
We will also be raising money for CRY at the David Hill Memorial Dinner in Edinburgh in March.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
