"When there is nowhere to go, nowhere is home" - Human Flow Just over two years ago I watched a documentary by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei called Human Flow. Filmed across 20 countries, it captured the impact of mass human migration at an individual level and reflected on the theme of ‘shared responsibility’ as part of the response to the global refugee crisis. I found it deeply moving and it galvanised me to take action. That night I signed up to Refugees at Home, an initiative which matches hosts with a spare room with refugees who have nowhere else to go. Since then, our family has hosted 3 refugees to help them feel welcome and settle in Sheffield, it has been a lovely experience and we have made new friendships from it. In September I will be walking the equivalent distance of Tunis to Sicily in solidarity with the friends we have made and all refugees around the world. This is 165 miles which breaks down to about 5 miles per day. I am a mum of two kids and have a full time job so this won't be easy and I plan to do many walks at sunrise and sunset. I would love it if you were able to sponsor me!
