I am running the Great North Run with Katie Dawson in support of Martin House.  

The great support that Martin House provide to families has been drawn to my attention as a result many stories including Katie's  friends Fiona and Carl and their lovely family having had cause to use Martin House. Since their son Harry and daughter Grace were diagnosed with a life limiting condition called Niemann Pick Type C. 

Sadly, the illness took Harry's life at 7 years of age.  Martin House were there for the family through their bereavement and they were there to help Grace and her twin sister Emily too.   Emily attends a sibling group called Time4Us where she meets other siblings like her. Grace is now 10 years of age and the family still visit Martin House on a regular basis, it is a home from home, where they can stay for a few days and recharge their batteries.  Martin House look after 350 families across the region who have children with life limiting conditions and they rely totally on donations to fund their £5m a year costs.
