Story
I'm helping the 1 in every 125 babies born in the UK with a serious heart condition. Support me throughout October as I walk 125km with my little heart warrior to support all the tiny tickets out there.
In April 2022 our little girl Isadora was born, and after several weeks of struggling with group-b strep infections, we could tell something wasn’t quite right. Dora struggled to gain weight and feed, had issues breathing/coughing and seemed to be hit very hard by mild infections.
At 3 months old she was finally diagnosed with a large VSD, a form of congenital heart defect which means she has a large hole in her heart and at this point was already in congestional heart failure.
It took 3 months of asking and pushing for us to get a diagnosis and Dora the help she needed. Thankfully, she is now doing much better, but we are still not out of the woods yet and open heart surgery is a very real future for us. Before Dora’s diagnosis we had no idea about how common chd is or what signs to look out for, if we had Dora might have gotten the help she needed sooner.
I want to raise awareness for the 1 in 125 babies with a congenital heart defect by walking 125km with Isadora in October. Help us support all the little heart warriors out there!
