Story

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

As most of you will know, in 2015 I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the parotid gland. Following surgery, radiotherapy and ongoing treatment I was feeling well, and almost 5 years later discharged and needed no more treatment!

Then in July 2019 I felt a lump in my right breast and within 2 weeks I was at the hospital and diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  Plans were put in place for a mastectomy and whilst this was a lot to take in I thought “it’ll be ok and in time I get a new tit!”  The lovely ladies in Spain even held a #nopityforthetitty party - Bras for bunting!

Fast forward a few weeks and a routine bone scan revealed and I had Secondary Breast Cancer that had spread to my Rib and was no longer curable.

The mastectomy was cancelled and my treatment plan was put together.  No surgery and no radio or chemotherapy would be required as, thanks to the amazing advancement in cancer research, I would be prescribed tablets to take daily which will slow down the spread of the cancer and keep me going for “many years.”

The treatment I have received has been amazing and my Oncologists & my Macmillan support team really are my fairy godmothers!

So....... I wanted to do something to raise money to help the ongoing research in to treating Breast Cancer.  I needed a challenge, something achievable and realistic, so that was ‘Dry January’ completely out of the question! A half marathon would be much easier, especially for a complete non runner!

I have 9 months to train for the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raise lots of money.  I’ll keep you all posted on my training plan and would appreciate any running tips along with any donations.

The race will now take place April 11th 2021, not the planned route so i’ll be completing the distance locally.

As with everything in 2020 this event has been postponed till April 2021 BUT I will be completing a half marathon on my own local route ! I cannot thank you all enough for your support xx

Thank you again for reading this and all your support.
