Story
On Friday 13th December I will be taking part in the Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge during which, I will be cycling around Dubai for several hours hoping that I don't fall off and that at the end I can still sit down!
The purpose of the event is for me to do my part in raising as much money as possible for The Teenage Cancer Trust and remembering a beautiful young girl Alexis who sadly passed away from cancer last year at the tragically young age of 20.
Alexis battled with cancer for 2 years, during which time she spent many hours attending hospital appointments, undergoing invasive procedures and staying on hospital wards with other patients, many of whom were not of her age. For a teenager suffering from any sort of cancer, an important part of the journey is the environment in which they are treated and the other patients they are able to relate to. That's where the Teenage Cancer Trust come in.
At the Teenage Cancer Trust, they involve young people when they plan their units, it’s all about giving teenagers the chance to be themselves. A Teenage Cancer Trust unit brings teenagers with cancer together, so they can support each other. Being able to talk to people going through exactly what they’re going through makes a huge difference.
So many people have done so many amazing things in Alexis’s memory and I felt it was my turn to support the charity so they can carry on the fantastic work they do. I really appreciate any donation you can make.
