Story
On 12th July, some lovely friends and I will be cycling 60 miles from Manchester to Blackpool to raise money for the Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. They provide specialist care for young people aged 16-24 who are undergoing cancer treatment.
My brother Josh was diagnosed with Leukaemia in January 2009 aged 17, and had a bone marrow transplant in August of the same year. Despite this putting his Leukaemia into remission, unfortunately he encountered many problems post-transplant and passed away suddenly in February this year.
The unit became like a second home to us during more than six years of treatment and the care we had was totally invaluable, and without a doubt made such a difference to our experience. Josh was committed to the Young Oncology Unit and believed that everyone should also receive the excellent care that he did.
We miss Josh more than we can say but want to continue supporting the unit that helped him so much.
All of the money raised will be added to Josh’s tribute fund - http://hopefunds.christies.org/funds/josh-hallam.
Thanks x
