Story
As many of you are aware, our dad was diagnosed with cancer at the end of February this year. Tragically, after a number of procedures, he developed an infection which the cancer was too aggressive to fight! We were lucky enough to get a bed at the Hospice where he was transferred to. We were able to bring his beloved dog, Cleo, in to see him and as soon as we arrived he was peaceful. We spent the day and night at the hospice and was provided with a room to sleep in should we need it. Devastatingly, dad did not make it through the night, however being at the hospice allowed Jill, Katy, Emma and myself to sit with him in his final hours until he passed. We could not have asked for anything more from the moment we walked in to the continued support we have received since his death. We have decided to do the moonlight walk in memory of our dad, as it is Father’s Day weekend so we can share some memories and no doubt some tears. However, James (Katy’s 8 year old son) has decided he would also like to take part for sponsorship in memory of his grandad. 8 miles is no mean feat for his age (especially when it starts at bedtime)! More than anything, the Hospice is a perfect enough excuse for us to ask people to donate because without the Hospice, we can’t think where we would be. Any sponsorship you are able to offer to egg him on would be hugely appreciated and would go a long way to help such an amazing charity, that helps so many people in the absolute worst of times and so many of us have been affected by.
