Sadly, Victoria is no longer able to do the jump but fabulous Fiona Heap has stepped into the breach and will be jumping 11,000ft out of a plane on Saturday 10th September. All in the name of charity :)

Why are we raising money?
We would like to raise money for a Rhino Sensory Voyager for our ward which costs over £2000 for a basic model. The Voyager creates a sensory experience and provides distraction for all the children and young adults who use our facility to help make their stay as fun and as friendly as possible! Coming into hospital can be a frightening and daunting experience for anyone. Our children's facility has recently had a makeover which makes us look more friendly and inviting to our children and families when they visit us, hopefully helping ease some of the fears and worries they may have. The Voyager would help in creating a calm, relaxed and trusting environment.
Along with all our gorgeous-happy-smiley team members, we can make a real difference to the visits of all of our patients and their families :)
Who are we?
The Children’s CRF is based on Ward 79 at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, the largest single-site children’s hospital in the UK. We have a purpose built ward that provides observation and clinical care to children who have regular clinical trial visits that are related to their underlying condition.
We regularly provide:
- trial enzyme replacements to children with various metabolic conditions
- subcutaneous injections for children and young adults with severe eczema
- trial anti-rejection prophylaxis for children post renal transplant
- oral glucose tolerance tests for families at risk of developing diabetes
- trial analgesia medication to combat chronic pain in children
- trial vaccine studies for common childhood respiratory illnesses
- observational respiratory studies into childhood cystic fibrosis
- treatment for over-active bladder in childhood
Many of our trials involve children coming into hospital and having painful and frightening procedures, such as having blood tests, having a cannula, biopsies and going to theatre for trial related procedures. There are also lots of fun times to be had on the ward and sensory play is excellent at soothing and entertaining children, whatever their age or condition.
Please help us get to a combined total of £2000 so we can purchase a Voyager for our children
