Story
This page is set up in loving memory of Dilys Carrington who passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2009. She will be missed by her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and close friends.
She dedicated her life to teaching the practice of the Alexander Technique. She helped her husband Walter Carrington run the Constructive Teaching Centre at Lansdowne Road for almost 50 years and it still is thriving. She mentored many students on the path to becoming Alexander teachers and helped many pupils learn to use their bodies in new ways, reducing pain and increasing movement in many people who had given up hope. The family has chosen the RNIB to support in memory of Dilys. In later years Dilys lost the majority of her eyesight to macular degeneration. She was an avid book reader and planned to while away her dotage in this pursuit. The RNIB talking book service allowed this to be a reality even after she became legally blind. This amazing service provided a lifeline in the last few years when decreased mobility prevented Dilys from leaving the house. She and the family were immensely grateful that it was there.
