I ran my first GNR 5 years ago, inspired by my friend of many years, Sarah Metcalfe. I loved it, caught the bug and this year will be number 5. I’ve read the backs of so many other runners t-shirts over the years and looked at the incredible causes they have raised money for so this year I’m giving it a go and fundraising for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation

I took up running approx 3 years ago encouraged by my friends to join them on a morning run. How hard can it be I thought...right? Wrong, I was terrible, stopped every minute or so with a fake injury or I’d refuse to run any further convinced I was going to die, I hated it! I’m glad I didn’t give up in those early days as here I am feeling amazing and positive preparing for my first GNR. I still complain and the injuries are no longer fake, but it’s all for a cause that’s close to both our hearts.
We really believe in the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on mental health. In today’s digital society, taking time out to get fit, learn something new and interact with new people is more important than ever. Sport allows people of all abilities to get involved and enjoy themselves, boosting confidence and aspirations along the way.
