On the 8th September my dad and I are embarking on what I would consider (and I'm sure he would agree) to be the most challenging of our cycle rides to date.  Through Deloitte RAB (Ride Across Britain) we are attempting to cycle from Land's End to John O Groat's.  As most of you will already know Les completed this in 2011 but there are two big differences this year, the first is that the ride takes place over 9 days as opposed to 15 and the second is that at the end of each long day we are camping (hmmm...)

The route is approximately 960 miles broken down into 9 daily stages averaging 106 miles with 20,000 metres of ascent over the 9 days.  For avid Tour De France followers that is 4 times the amount of climbing involved in La Marmotte in the Alps and over 17 times up Alpe d'Huez.

The two charities we have chosen to ride for are Myeloma Uk and Mutliple Sclerosis.  Unfortunately for the most part the only reason you become aware of a charity's existance  is when you personally or someone close is diagnosed with the condition and in the last year that is true for both of the charities we have chosen.  Charities rely on donations in order to support the individual affected, their families and friends and most importantly to fund research to try and develop new treatments so all donations are gratefully received.

So from the 8th please drive carefully and when you settle down in bed each evening think of us and pray for good weather.
