Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
In October 2019, my mam was diagnosed with breast cancer. After scans and further tests, it was discovered that this was stage 4 breast cancer as it had spread to her liver, lungs and bones. It has been a very difficult time for my family, especially my mam who is enduring chemotherapy and the side effects it brings. This heartbreaking news has made me realise there is much more research that needs to be done and this has pushed me to take part in the Great North Run 2020 to raise money for Worldwide Cancer Research.
Every day, cancer affects people we love. Cancer is a global problem and one person dies from cancer every four seconds around the world. Cancer is a complex, ever-changing disease. Scientific research is crucial to helping scientists understand each type better - it's the only way they can find new treatments and cures.
Survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years since this charity was founded. Research has led to the discovery and development of preventions and treatments. But with over 200 types of cancer, there is still so much more to do. The simple fact is we need funding. £24 pays for one hour of research - the hours you fund could be the ones in which a scientist makes a major discovery.
Anything you can donate is highly appreciated - everything counts!
