Ukraine Crisis Appeal
Campaign by The British Red Cross Society (RCN 220949 (England & Wales), SC037738, 0752, 430)
Ukraine has faced almost eleven years of conflict. To date, Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers have been able to support more than 18 million people impacted by the crisis.

Story

Next week 17 boys (listed below) and I are running 5km every day(in total the width of Ukraine) to raise money for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis appeal. We are all in the L8 at St Paul's School. Personally I am part-Russian and part-Ukrainian and as a result I feel emotionally connected to this part of the world - the recent conflict has been tough on my family and me. I am hoping to raise awareness about the war and to encourage donations so that the people affected by the war will be able to receive water, food, warm clothes and shelter.  If you want to read more about what the Red Cross are doing there please read their story below.

The boys involved:

Victor, Caspar, Dominic, Miller, Jan, Louis, Aris, Sam, Jacob, Emil, Will,  Joe, George, Alex, Joseph, Cameron, Dylan, Harry and Max.

Following the events in Ukraine, we have launched an emergency appeal. Communities are bearing the brunt of eight long years of conflict. We are very concerned about the recent intensification of fighting in eastern Ukraine over the past few days. Please donate today if you can. Even before recent developments, this is a conflict that hits people daily on personal, psychological and emotional level, bringing death, injury, separation from loved ones as well as the huge mental toll of ongoing violence and insecurity. How will my donation help people in Ukraine? We are responding to needs of people by: Repairing vital infrastructure such as water stations supplying water to over 800,000 people. Supporting small businesses with cash grants or equipment and vocational training. Raising awareness of mines through training and educational sessions run with the URCS and providing mine warning signs to mark dangerous areas. Helping repair homes, healthcare centers and schools.
