Dumball 2016 · 7 January 2016 to 18 January 2016 ·
In January next year I will fly to Chennai with a bunch of other equally nutty people, decorate a Hindustan Ambassador (that's a car to those that don't know) and drive round the bottom of India then up again to Goa. The trip will take 10 days and we will wear fancy dress for the majority of it.
So why am I doing this?
Honestly?
Because it sounds like the most awesome adventure with some of the most wonderful people I know and you're only young once right!?!
There was a big "get to know the other teams" party a few weeks back which included some Bollywood dancing, fancy dress (obviously) and a few speeches. One man told us about his son who got cancer, recovered, got it again and sadly died. Together they had joined a previous Dumball rally, had the trip of a life time and helped raised money and awareness for Teenage Cancer Trust.
His story put the thought of me going on "the most awesome adventure with some of the most wonderful people I know" into perspective. If any of them had been the man's son, I would never even had the privilege to have met them. I have nephews who are rapidly heading towards their teens, and friends starting to have babies. I considered how it would feel to be a parent watching your child suffer, how it would feel to outlive your child. Dressed in the most fabulous, genuine Indian dress, I cried. And I'm glad - it put things into perspective and gave me the kick I needed to start fund raising.
We're aiming to raise £1000 per team member - that's £4000 from The Lost Khakis; Nick, Ben, Tara and Me.
We would love you to support us by donating a few squids and by sharing this fundraising page with the people you know. Thank you x
