This is why I am doing the 30mile walk
Danielle's life
I met my husband, Brad, back in 2010 and we’ve been together ever since.
Back in 2011 we noticed that he walked with a funny gait and that he found more mobile activities increasingly difficult. We went to the hospital and after endless MRI scans, muscle biopsies, chest x-rays, physio, pain management, acupuncture and many other tests I’ve probably forgotten to mention, we are still no closer to diagnosing the exact condition he has even today. All we know is that his muscles are fading away and simple activities are becoming more and more difficult.
We often take for granted the simplicity of being able to walk up a set of stairs or even stand up holding a cup of tea. Yet watching someone you love battle this on a daily basis makes you realise quite how brave a single human being can be.
I know this walk isn’t going to fix what is happening to Brad, but I hope it may go a small way to helping them find something that can make his life just a little bit easier.
Danielle and I are taking on the 30 mile trek across the Peak District and any donation, however small, really will be appreciated.
