Story

He was only going to Costco…

My Dad, our hero. He pulled into the car park, he even rang his own ambulance. What strength that must of took? What he went through. Unimaginable, but how strong was he to do that.

Grief is the strangest thing. Some days you can barely take a breath, some days you smile and laugh and talk about them. Some days you wake up and forget they are gone and some days you feel like they are right beside you.

In January I made the decision to put the sad thoughts into something big. big for me anyway, as 6 months after giving birth to Sulli baba and a wonky pelvis, i was so unfit ! … the thought of running to the end of the drive was too much.

I signed up to run half a marathon and started training. Running, Thai Boxing, walking…. And I got the bug. It made me feel better, every run I wear Dads favourite hat… it’s like he’s in my head cheering me on - I know he would be so proud.

Dad fought so hard for 2 days in hospital, he had 2 stents fitted. They told us it was the worst kind of heart attack to have and they could not believe he was still with us. The doctors said his heart was beating so fast it was like running a marathon. He still laughed and had banter with us (through a window because of shitty covid rules) … see that was my dad… a people pleaser always wanting people around him happy. ❤️

We will be forever grateful to those wonderful doctors and nurses who took care of him. They work miracles.

The work the British Heart Foundation does blows my mind. So I’m hoping to raise a little bit of cash to give back to them. The research they do, means that people will get longer with their loved ones. 🫀

I know times are hard, and cash is tight but if you can spare anything it will make this madness worthwhile.

Thanks to my boys, family, friends and crazy PT Gemma for all the support and encouragement - I hit 250km since Jan today so feels appropriate to share and shout about it.

I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
