In memory of Thomas I will be walking across hot coals
Thomas Robert Dingwall was born sleeping on 12/02/2017 weighing 4.4lbs
While we sat utterly grief stricken and barely able to comprehend what had happened or would be happening to us we were given a butterfly box from Towards Tomorrow Together. The box had been put together by other parents who had suffered loss themselves and it included items that we would just never have been able to realise we wanted or needed at the time. The box had things such as hand print and cast kits which meant that in the short time we had with our boy we got lasting, treasured momentos as well as gifts for Thomas and trinkets for him and us to keep.
The time we had with him was unbearably short and I don't think we will ever properly heal from loosing the lifetime of memories that we thought we would be making together as a family but that box was created by people who understood that and made sure we have as many keepsakes and memories as possible from our desperately brief time together.
Towards Tomorrow Together plays an important role in supporting parents after the loss of a baby or child. The support provided comes at key times: Cold cots, and the carefully considered and selected items in the memory packs are provided immediately following the loss of a baby/young child. These help to ease the stress on the parents a little by ensuring that they can spend as much time as they wish to with their child, and providing some items which help them to create a lifetime of memories in the short time available to them. It is felt that time spent with the baby, acknowledging the value of that little life can reduce the impact of the symptoms of grief.Towards Tomorrow Together recognise that parents who have lost a baby or child can benefit from different forms of emotional support at different times following the loss. We fund holistic therapies through the grief journey, and can offer counselling for couples. Please help us to continue our valuable work.
