Story
I am taking part in the FoodCycle 50 Challenge and raising funds for FoodCycle to provide nutritious meals and friendly conversation to vulnerable people across the country.
In April I will:
- Run 50 miles (81km)
- Do 500 (each) press-ups, sit-ups, burpees
- Average 5000 steps a day across the month
As a volunteer project leader for FoodCycle Cambridge, I've seen first-hand the difference it makes to bring people together around a meal that's been prepared with love and care. In normal times, we open our doors with a smile, helping to build communities and save hundreds of kilos of food from going to waste. During the pandemic, our food deliveries, meal collection service and phone conversations have been important not just for our guests, but for us as volunteers too.
We need support to keep going: to help pay for our venues, buy additional supplies to make balanced meals, and provide the PPE we currently need to keep us Covid-safe. Keeping fit has been another key part of my wellbeing since last year, so it made sense to join this national challenge to raise some funds for FoodCycle!
Anything you can give will be so very appreciated, by me personally and my fellow FoodCycle-rs :)
