Riding for the Puppies 2022 - Cincinnati to Cleveland, OH! · 15 July 2022

We breed, raise and train Seeing Eye dogs to guide people who are visually impaired.

Story

I was fortunate enough to meet my friend Jim Freiss about a year and a half ago.

Jim is an ultra runner and avid bike rider.  One day after a ride, he was telling a story about his brother, John, who was blind. Jim spoke at length about how John was still able to travel the world with his seeing-eye dog, Hero, and the impact it had on his brother’s life, giving him the freedom to move around the globe.

Jim spoke about a fundraiser that is held every year where he does a ride to raise money for the Seeing Eye, which is where John connected with Hero. Jim normally does these rides on his own, but asked if we would want to join him.  Last year we biked from Washington DC to Pittsburgh, PA.  This year’s ride is across Ohio. 

If you can, I ask to please make a donation to this incredible foundation.  No amount is too small.

About the charity

The Seeing Eye's mission is to enhance the independence, dignity and self-confidence of people who are blind, through the use of specially trained Seeing Eye® dogs. In pursuit of this mission, The Seeing Eye breeds and raises puppies to become Seeing Eye dogs, trains Seeing Eye dogs to guide blind people, instructs blind people in the proper use, handling, and care of the dogs and conducts and supports research on canine health and development.
