Story

In May 2021, I will be taking part in the Walk Your AS Off challenge to raise awareness about axial SpA, and vital funds to transform the diagnosis and care of people living with axial SpA.

Every penny will make a big difference. Please check your ‘pockets’ and I hope you wish to sponsor me.

I have learnt a lot in the last few months, since being properly diagnosed in December 2020. But, I am still feel pain every day. Different treatments are available and it is a big challenge to find which one is right for you.

This disease isn’t one you can cure, it lives with you day by day. Raising money for more research of how to make you feel better and finding the right medication is so important for thousands and thousands of people suffering every day, week, month and year after year..

My aim is to do 7,500 steps per day on average during the month of May. My average for the past year was 5,659 per day and in April I did 6,064. I hope to manage more, but I don’t wish to set an unreachable target. Especially as my feet are one of the areas of my body I feel the most pain.

Secondly I am giving up unhealthy eating like crisps, chocolate, desserts, biscuits, ice cream and most things with suger. I will cut down on white pasta, rice and bread too. I am hoping to loose 3-5kg in May, to lose some of the extra weight my body is carrying and in that way ease the pain too. Starting weight is 83kg on the 30th of April.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation and kindness to help all of us fight all forms of AS x
