Story
Wow what a journey so far. Friday 18 February 2022 is my 6th chemo session and final one for this part of my breast cancer journey. I still have surgery , radiotherapy , and chemo once every 6 months for 3 years to go …but the 6 chemo sessions have flown by and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and getting back to full fitness when I’m able to swim in the sea, cycle, and start running again.
I have raised over £3500 for the 5 charities I have supported so far by dressing up for each chemo session.
I’ve made it on to STV news, BBC radio Scotland and BFBS radio live interviews. All great fun and great to spread awareness of the importance of Brest Cancer screening and self checking.
The MacMillan staff and nurses on Spey Ward at Dr Grays are all amazing, as are the nurses at the Moray Coast medical practice that take my blood. All NHS staff at ARI and Dr Grsys that I have come into contact with have also all been amazing…..especially after I tell them I’m a fainter and have needle/ cannula phobia 😀.
Thank you to all my family and friends for all your support so far.
Due to my own breast cancer diagnosis I realised that I would be unable to do my annual New Year’s Day dook in memory of my dad for Macmillan. So I decided to turn up to every chemo session in a different superhero outfit and raise awareness of breast cancer and raise money for charity. The first one will be for the Macmillan Nurses team in Moray.
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. At Macmillan, we give people with cancer everything we’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are our worries. We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.
