Story
Dad was a quite, gentle, loving man who devoted hours of his time to helping others. Even through his battle with cancer he continued to put others before himself. When he went into Sam Beare Hospice in early January 2011 he finally had to allow others to care for him. Dad always enjoyed walking and as a family we spent every October half term together in the Lake District on a walking holiday! It therefore seems apt to raise money doing a sponsored walk.
Dad passed away at Sam Beare Hospice on 12.01.11. I cannot say how pleased I was that Dad managed to get a place in the Hospice where he spent the last weeks of his life. The Hospice was like home from home. The nursing staff were dedicated, caring, loving and there whenever you needed them. In additional to providing excellent care for Dad they also looked after our family who spent many days and nights there beside Dad. We were always made to feel welcome and comfortable. I would like to give something back to this wonderful place to enable them to continue to support other people in need of their care.
It costs approximately £600 an hour to run the Hospice, so any amount that you can donate is most gratefully received.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Thank you.
