Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those that know me well, will know that saying I need to loose a bit of weight is a little understatement, and up till now I have lacked any motivation, so I thought that if I did it to raise money for charity then that may give me the incentive I needed to get going.  First I had to decided how much to loose and over how long, so as my current weight is 14 stone 2 pounds (I know!!!!) I have gone for what I consider a realistic target of loosing 1 stone (14 pounds) and aim to do this in 3 months, although I am sure you will bear with me if it takes a little longer.  That was the easy part, the hard part will be loosing the weight, but I am sure with everyone's support I can get there. I will update with pictures as I (hopefully) loose the weight.

The next thing was to decide who to raise the money for.  I decided on the British Tinnitus Association becuse I have suffered with tinnitus as long as I can remember, and although it has not affected my life too much, I can appreciate how some people must suffer.  I always had problems at school because when there is total silence in the room, it make the tinnitus worse so concentrating in exams was hard, and home work was normally done with a radio on in the background.  My 'noise' is normally a high pitched squeal, that I tend to blot out, but in times of stress it starts to sound like the noise they used to put on at the end of TV every night (yes I know that ages me!), combined with my hearing loss, it can make hearing people clearly in noisy situations very difficult.

The charity offers support to 80,000 people a year who are affected by tinnitus and even a small ammount can go a long way, according to thier web site just £2 provides an information pack about tinnitus for a person who has been newly diagnosed and £4 enables them to answer a telephone call from someone who would like more information on managing their condition.

They are not a large charity, and this is one of the reasons I have chosen them.  if you want further information about tinnitus visit their web site at www.tinnitus.org.uk
