The reasos I decided to do this apparently crazy thing shave my head is because I admire what is done with the children and I know from experience the support I have received and the good friends that I have made at the Rainbow. No words can describe how you feel when told you have a progressive disease for which there is no cure. It's lonely but with the Rainbow it does not have to be. Last year I also had breast cancer and was lucky enough not to have to lose my hair so I thought I should lose it this time. Parkinson s usually cause you to shake or freeze NOT lose your hair
As a former special needs teacher I have seen the strides that the children at the Rainbow have made. But I also have seen what to other children and parents have seemed a matter of fact is such a big step often literally for the children and the courage of the children together with the pride of the parents as they support and encourage the children to achieve I have seen high achievers but this has to be seen to be believed
As for the adults that receive help here because they have neurological problems such as Parkinson ,M / and and stroke damage nothing can describe our bodies and confidence being rebuilt with fun, caring and expertise. I have Parkinson s and I know it is progressives but at the Rainbow we are taught to rebuild our dreams after being told we will only get worse. The people at the Rainbow help us today and prepare for tomorrow building on our strengths enjoying and developing what we can do rather than what we cannot do. Please help this wonderful facility to stay open. We are so lucky to have on our doorstep . We all need it so much. To close it would be a tragedy for so many people children and adults Thank You
