Story

On the 20th November I will take the long flight to Cusco where my challenge will start and I will trek over 50km through the Andes mountains, I am taking on this challenge in memory of my husband Michael or Mick which everyone called him. After Mick was diagnosed with Motor neurone disease in 2017, Overgate soon became a real focus for both of us throughout his illness providing amazing care and support, and the Hospice still continues to support me!

Mick attended the Day unit and went from not wanting to step over the door to really looking forward to a Thursday morning there. He was also a patient on the ward too and everyone was so caring and supportive, we would have been totally lost without the unrelenting work of all the staff at Overgate!

The trek will also be a real challenge for me too! Afterbeing diagnosed with lung cancer some 11 years ago I thought my trekking and even hill climbing days were well over but after surgery I am here starting mytraining!
