Story
On the 24th August I am swimming 2 miles in Loch Lomond as part of the Great Scottish Swim. After swimming a lot when I was younger I started swimming seriously again late last year when I could barely swim 2 lengths of crawl so this has been a bit of a challenge for me. For perspective 2 miles is 64 lengths of an Olympic pool!
As some of you may know my good friend John died in May this year. I will be swimming this for him and will raise money for Snow Camp who use snow sports to improve the lives and futures of young people. It seems a fitting cause for John who's main passion in life was snowboarding and a tribute to his generous, kind and encouraging spirit.
John's friend Hannah will be joining me for the swim but after running a marathon and raising over £1000, I think she's earnt her fundraising badge. Still, if you know Hannah and would like to support her futher than please donate here for her too.
I had told John about this swim the day before he passed, it was one of the last things we talked about. As well as giving me advice about wetsuits he had these encouraging words for me - 'Open water? Scary!' ... yeah, thanks for that John!
