Story
I’m running the Rob Burrows Leeds marathon to raise money to support people with motor neurone disease. This is such a cruel and devastating disease for all those living with it or those supporting a loved one. I work with people everyday newly diagnosed and those at the end of life- it’s heart breaking no matter what age or personal situation. Last year one of my best friends and the best person I know was diagnosed- imagine in your 40’s envisioning your life with MND perhaps getting 5 years if lucky with a decline in your ability to walk, to move, to touch your loved ones, to speak, eat and even breathe. It’s so awful and waiting for the decline is as hard as living with it.
Marathon training has been tough trying to juggle the long runs with busy life and a body less forgiving than in my 20s but every step I count my blessings that I can run and have the ability to do this.
Please spare what you can to raise money for care and research for people with MND.
