Story
Like all Charities this period has been extremely difficult for Velindre Fundraising.
We have been supporting the work of the Cancer Centre in different ways, but our income has decreased substantially with all our events and those organised on our behalf being cancelled or postponed including the Cardiff Bay 10k.
So we are delighted that the #TwoPointSixChallenge has been launched this week by ‘Save The UK’S Charities’ and we are encouraging all of our supporters to take part and raise funds for Velindre.
All you need to do is think of an activity or challenge based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and complete it on, or start it on Sunday 26 April – when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place. This could be something as simple as pledging to do 26 sit ups or press ups, run or cycle 2.6 miles a day, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, to gardening for 26 minutes or baking 26 cupcakes. All we ask is you raise funds for Velindre.
Velindre Charity funds over 20 NHS Clinical Nurse Specialists and also funds psychology and therapies that provides the support needed by NHS staff and patients at this difficult time.
The support and exceptional care of our NHS Specialist Nurses has never been more needed as they are dealing with the effects of cancer and a national emergency.
These services are needed during the pandemic and will be needed after. We need your help so that we can continue to fund these people and services that make such a difference to the NHS.
Thank you all!
