Story

It is that time of year again, and on Sunday 17th September I will be participating in #themightystride #KiltwalkEdinburgh to raise funds for Scottish charity Art in Healthcare. If you've enjoyed seeing artwork in a hospital, hospice or care home in Scotland there is a good chance that it is from their collection. For over thirty years they have been working with partners in health and social care to place art into their buildings to make them more welcoming and less stressful spaces. They know that this work helps patients feel less defined by their illness or condition, visitors feel comforted and staff valued. The charity also has an extensive programme of creative workshops that support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. They regularly work with adults living with long-term health challenges including those living with long COVID, unpaid adult carers, adults living with dementia and new Scots. The charity has seen an increase in referrals for these services post-pandemic and needs support more than ever. More information, and details of other ways to support Art in Healthcare can be found at: https://www.artinhealthcare.org.uk/
