Tridryathon. (Try saying that after a few)

Tri Dryathon · 2 January 2015
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year when I decided to participate in Dryathalon people mocked me as I took up the challenge. Unbelievable I know, but they did. "She will never succeed" they said. " A whole month without a glass of red or a sneaky Magners". they said, "She will end up paying fines and bankrupting herself" they said. Well I proved them all wrong. And I didn't even pay a fine and still raised lots of money for Cancer Research.
This year I have had the pleasure of becoming involved in this wonderful charity, set up by my amazing friend Kerry Hart. She has recognised through her own experience and that of others that there is a "Cancer Gap" and in the past year has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and assist in filling that gap.
Cancer is a disease that touches everyone's lives. Detection and treatment has improved massively over the years, but what happens to sufferers after discharge from hospital. Where do the survivors get help? Dance against cancer, counselling, art therapy, writing groups, support have all either begun or are in the pipeline.
Money has been raised through events, vintage fairs, pop up, cinemas, dances, raffles and individuals setting up their own challenges the latest being Paul Cassidy and his Decembeard.
As my beard is never going to be quite as good as Paul's, I am going dry, not for one month, not even for two months but for 3 months, or 89 full days or 2136 hours or 128,160 minutes or 7,689,600 seconds. Not that I'm counting or anything.
If I should fall off the tridryathon wagon I will have to pay £20.00 fine. The challenge starts on the 2nd January 2015 and ends at midnight on 31st March 2015. Wish me luck. I have a feeling I'm going to need it.
