Walk for Parkinson's - Greenwich Park · 19 July 2015 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, aiming to raise some much needed funds to support the charity, Parkinson's UK.

You may not know a  great deal about this illness. I didn't, either, until my brave, beautiful dad was diagnosed several years ago. Parkinson's is a degenerative condition, which affects your movement and co-ordination. This gets progressively worse the longer you have it, leading to difficulty walking, problems with swallowing and muscle rigidity. It is heartbreaking to see how much this condition has taken from my dad, both physically and emotionally. There are many things that he cannot do for himself, such as feeding or dressing himself. Though Parkinson's sometimes takes away your ability to smile or show emotion, I am glad that my dad is still able to raise a smile now and then. Thankfully, his mind is still as sharp as a tack, so he is still able to beat me at dominoes whenever we get a chance to play!

I would appreciate any donation that you can make, no matter how small, to help me to raise at least £50 with my 3 mile walk through Greenwich Park on the 19th July 2015. I am not on any social media sites, I'm afraid, so please help to spread the word to friends, family and colleagues, and direct them to this page.

Thank you all for your support.
