Story
My beautiful granddaughter Sophia passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in January at just eleven weeks old.
On the terrible day that we lost her, medical professionals did everything they could in an attempt to save her life. The Great Western Air Ambulance also despatched a helicopter, which as well as potentially providing quick transport to hospital, also carried critical care doctors.
The Air Ambulance is a charity that relies on public donations to fly. They need to raise over £1 million a year to operate, and it can cost them up to £1000 to respond to an emergency situation.
They have also recently launched the Movin' On Up campaign to attempt to raise £250,000 to replace their existing helicopter, which entered service in 1970 (before being used for the air ambulance). The new proposed helicopter will reach the scenes of emergencies up to four minutes faster as well as be a more comfortable ride for patients.
I will be doing my skydive on Sophia's first birthday, and wish to help the air ambulance to continue to help families in need.
I will be paying the costs of the jump myself, so all donations made will be going to the charity.
