Valerie's 10 mile (16K) 'A Walk Around our Field', 16 May 2020
Like so many, I have been inspired by Capt. (now Honorary Colonel) Tom Moore to do something positive whilst in 'lock down' by raising funds to help a charity in need during these unprecedented times. So, my challenge is a 10 mile (16k) 'Walk Around our Field' on the 16th May for Farleigh Hospice and I make this heartfelt appeal for your support.
Farleigh Hospice relies on the support and goodwill of the wider community normally through organised fundraising events to raise the eye-watering amount of approximately £16,000 needed daily to provide its services. But these are far from normal times - the hospice’s planned fundraising programme has had to be cancelled and since a major part of their fundraising involves mass participation events, income this year will be severely affected.
Farleigh Hospice plays a hugely important part in the Mid Essex community; the money raised will help support a range of services and I know from personal experience that these services are invaluable. Patients are treated with dignity, respect and given excellent care; carers know that they will be supported emotionally. The staff are always gentle, unfailingly cheerful with a smile, and totally professional.
Farleigh Hospice are committed to continue providing care to those with life limiting illnesses in mid-Essex and in their own homes during the Covid 19 pandemic. The current public health situation will stretch Farleigh Hospice’s resources to the limit. They are committed to provide end of life care and complex symptom management for patients and support for their carers and families. They have pooled all of their clinical resource into providing an increased amount of community care. Additionally they have set up the Farleigh Helpline, which includes an overnight Clinical Nurse Specialist team ‘Night owl’ service. This ‘virtual care team’ has provided an essential contribution to their overall offer and has helped to relieve the pressure from the increasing workload of their frontline CommunityTeams. The difference your support will make will allow Farleigh to continue their free of charge hospice-at-home care during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Every donation will makes a difference. Your thoughtfulness and support at this time are so very much appreciated. Thank you.
Take care and keep safe.
