Story
Dave went missing on a beautiful sunny afternoon on August 2nd 2016. He had gone for a walk in the mountains close to our house in the village of Marie in the French Alpes Maritimes. He was working that day and was due to take part in a conference call with the USA later in the afternoon. He never returned. Despite intensive searches by mountain rescue teams, the gendarmerie, a helicopter, two sniffer dogs, abseilers, the people of two villages and my family; no sign of him has ever been found. Nothing was wrong that day, David was in his favourite place and was very happy, however he had been seen by a couple in the mountains in a clearly confused state, walking very fast in the wrong direction.
It is now getting on for three years and we his family have had to learn to adapt and try to move on with our lives, we have no choice.
Throughout these painful years of loss, my sons and I have been helped, supported and sensitively nurtured by the gentle people who work for the amazing charity Missing People. Sadly they cannot make the situation right in our case, however they will always be there for us, and can offer a network of other people who can understand the pain we have experienced. The confidential help line offers a support network for individuals with nowhere else to turn.
Mercifully through the determined persistence of this charity, missing children and adults have been found.
