I'm representing Oxfordshire in the England National Bowling Championships at Leamington in August - in the over 55 Pairs event, with my playing partner Sylvia Blackmore.  It is a flat green bowling event. I am optimistic about our chances and wanted to use the opportunity to raise money for Home-Start, the charity I have worked for for the last 12 years.  Our first opponents are Hertfordshire.  If we reach the final we will have beaten four other teams.  The final - if we manage it - is on 12 August.

I specifically want the money to go towards funding the 0800 free phone number to support parents, help recruit volunteers and take donations.

Update:

We have now successfully competed in the English Women's National Bowling Championships.  We won our 1st round match against Hertfordshire, and our 2nd round match against Hampshire.  We then won our Quarter Finals match against Middlesex, and went on to compete in the Semi Finals against a very strong team from Nottinghamshire, who unfortunately won.  The eventual champions were from Lancashire, and Nottinghamshire were runners-up.

At the Presentations, we were presented with our Semi-Finalist trophies by the England President, and the sponsors of the competition (Golden Charter). 

Altogether we are very happy with our performance, having won three highly competitive games, and the whole weekend was both an amazing, and enjoyable experience.
