Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

How am I planning to raise money?  By motorbiking round Scotland at the end of May with 80 women and 20 men.   Last year the group raised £55,000.  Again this year the aim is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the profile of women bikers and awareness of breast cancer.

As you know I've been touched by breast cancer for the second time recently.  In August 2010 I had my right breast removed.  Since then I've had a full course of chemotherapy and also had my second mastectomy on April 21st - just five weeks before I plan to head out on this charity ride.  This year is going to be a huge challenge for me.  I'm not as strong as I was for last year's ride,  I've had painful hips since my chemo - which makes sitting in one position for any length of time a bit of a struggle and I'm having problems with the scar from my latest operation.  But I'm determined to get onto the bike and go for as far as my body will allow.

Both of the ladies featured in the photograph on this page have been dealing with cancer over the past 12 months - we're both here, and we're both still smiling.  Macmillan have done so much to help me and fellow cancer survivors over the years and I want to do my bit to help those diagnosed in the future.

I plan to ride pillion on the back of my friend Annette's rather sexy cruiser bike for the 650 miles round trip which will take place over the late May Bank Holiday.

Wish me luck ....!
