Story
Greetings again, generous friends, relatives and people we only vaguely know.......
Following on from the unmitigated success of the 2009 Urban Allstar Rally and all the good work it did for charity, we thought it would be crazy not to go and do it all again!
That's right - we're back... as "Mates in a V8!" - the mission this time? A gruelling 5 day, 2000 mile stint leaving on the 10th June from High Wycombe to Barcelona and back, in a £200 banger to raise money this year for another very worthy casue - The Stroke Association.
The aim is to complete the rally in one piece and a series of Top Gear-style challenges along the route (Spare engine on standby!!!) And in learning from last year's wrong doings, namely around comfort, space, leg room, power, errrrm, ok, pretty much the whole car - we decided to push the boat out in true "Wheeler Dealer" fashion to see exactly what we could get for £200
The route
Getting the ferry at Dover, we will first head to Paris whilst alongside driving "on the wrong side of the road" we will encounter the Arc de Triomphe and all the motoroing joy that is likely to give us!
From there it's a 300 mile trek whilst completing various crazy tasks, to La Rochelle, then a further 400 miles to Andora, where the rally will enter The Pyranees, certainly enough to put any £200 motor thorugh it's paces! Day 4 sees the descent from the mountains to the finish line in Barcelona.
Find out more about the rally at:
The car
After many countless hours being spent trawling what seemed like every classified ad on the internet for something that might stand half a chance of getting us there, we were lucky enough find an old K-Reg BMW 730i V8 - a lot of car, a lot that could go wrong but well worth the risk!
Thanks to each and every one of you who sponsored us before for your outstanding genorosity in 2009 when "The Sunny Delights" undertook the 1500km, 72 hour road rally from High Wycombe to Zurich and raised nearly £1800 in sponsorship.for Cancer Research.
Mates in a V8 are:
Ashley Goodchild
Ollie Gray, and
Mike Tinsley
We will not break down this year, I hope!!
