Story

Did you know... 'Physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality.'

On Saturday 6th September, the fantastic team Springland, led by our new daredevil Team Leader Greig plan to trek 13 miles.  We’ll race from the Pentlands to Holyrood Park, along Edinburgh's waterways and through the city centre before climbing to the top of the iconic Arthur's seat.

Yes, Ladies and gentlemen, 13 miles, that is half a marathon.

Why I hear you ask? Well the answer to that is quite simple: in doing so we hope to raise funds for, and awareness of, the great work Capability Scotland do for disabled children and adults across Scotland, and in particular our own service here at Perth - Upper Springland.

We are a purpose built facility, which enables people with a range of disabilities to lead their lives to the full and supports them to be all they can be. One of our most popular activities here at Upper Springland’s is our health and wellbeing “Get Active” sessions, which include Hydrotherapy, MOTOmed, Supported Standing and Rebound Therapy.

We have a wonderful hydrotherapy pool, and therapy zone  that many people at Upper Springland use and benefit from - but  that’s not enough.

At Upper Springland we believe that the only barriers in life are the ones we create ourselves

You can help us strip away those barriers and help us to create the East of Scotland’s first ever fully inclusive gym and pool, giving disabled people of all abilities equal access to exercise. £5000.00 ' would help us to buy our first piece of Inclusive gym equipment.

Help us to raise £500 from this challenge. A gift of:

£10 will enable us  to purchase sensory soundscapes, and relaxation music, helping to build and create tranquil atmosphere.

£49 will enable us to provide a much needed  hydrotherapy session to a customer of capability Scotland.

£419.00 will enable us to purchase a waterproof floating switch to enable customers the ability to control their environment at the touch of a button.
