Story
On July 13th 2023, we'll be aiming to do something that we believe has never been done before in order to raise money in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours is tough, covering 23m miles and 3,400 metres of hiking over Britain's highest peaks. Each year 30,000 people attempt the hike, with only 40% completing the distance in under 24 hours.
Whilst it's a big test of endurance and stamina - it's no where near as tough as battling cancer.
In a bid to recognise those that are struggling today and those that we've sadly lost, we're 'carrying' those impacted by cancer with us on the journey by carrying the average weight of an adult (62.5kg) with us over each peak.
Joe, our lead for the challenge, is carrying the full weight on an Olympic barbell - needless to say, it's not the most convenient way to carry weight up a mountain!
We're a team made up of friends and family that all want to do our part in making the lives of those impacted by cancer a little better. Each of us have lost people close to us as a result of cancer and have seen the fantastic work that Macmillan and other cancer charities do to provide support, guidance and comfort to those that struggle with cancer every day.
We've set a big expectation for what we believe to be a really big challenge and thank you for all that you can do to help us reach our £25k donation target.
If you want to dedicate your donation and support in memory of someone then please leave a comment as we will be taking their names and memories up with us on the weight plates that we carry.
We've been training for this since the winter and have been documenting our journey on Instagram. You can follow us through @the.uphill.battle
